POLICE have released CCTV images of a man who sexually assaulted a woman after following her from a train.

The attacker, who was carrying a large rucksack and talking constantly in a mobile phone, left the train at St James Street at 1.15am and grabbed his victim in Courtenay Mews.

He then sexually assaulted her before running away when she screamed.

The attacker is described as a tanned white man, of Spanish or Italian appearance, aged between 30 and 40. He has short, dark receding hair and was wearing a black shirt, dark blue jeans and black shoes.

Detective Constable Zoe Graham of Chingford CID, said: "I would advise women walking alone late at night, to remain vigilant."

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity and who may have seen this assault, to come forward.”

The attack, which happened on Saturday, June 13, is not being linked to the serial rapist who murdered Michelle Samaraweera in a playground in nearby Markhouse Road.
