A TALENTED soap star who raised a total of £60,000 for a vital children’s charity has agreed to become the organisation's patron.

Haven House Children's Hospice, High Road, Woodford Green, has welcomed actor Gary Lucy as it's latest high profile representative.

Lucy, who stars in ITV’s The Bill and formerly of Channel 4's Hollyoaks, has done a huge amount of fund raising for Haven House, appearing in a number of ITV quizzes with his family and colleagues.

Appearances on Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire? All Star Mr & Mrs and Family Fortunes have netted an amazing £60,000 for the charity.

Haven House chief executive Ian Sparks said: “We are delighted to have Gary as a new patron.

“In the past year Gary has made an enormous contribution to our fundraising and has been a great ambassador for our work. We are very grateful for his on-going support.”

Haven House works with families of life limited children, providing short care breaks for the children, support services for the family and community services.

The families that use Haven House come from central and north-east London and Essex.

As a charity Haven House depends on its supporters for the majority of its funding.
