A CHINGFORD pub is urging customers to help raise cash for a charity which helps brighten up terminally ill children's lives.
Throughout this month, customers will be able to purchase tokens and Chupa Chups lollipops to raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation when they visit the Harvester in Larkswood Leisure Centre, New Road, with one lucky person winning a free family meal.
Terry Williams, the pub's manager, said: “We're hoping the lollipops and tokens alone raise at least £500 for this fantastic charity.
“It usually costs around £4,000 to make a wish come true for a child with a life-threatening illness, so we're hoping to make a real difference.”
In the last two years Harvester has raised more than £50,000 for Make A Wish, which helps children and young people with life-threatening conditions by allowing them a request It was founded in Britian in 1986 and since then has granted more than 5,500 wishes.
Karen England, Make-A-Wish's director of fundraising, said: “We're delighted to be working with the Chingford Harvester to increase awareness of our work as well as raising much needed funds that will add magic to the lives of special children.”
Staff will be encouraging customers to donate £1 for a lollipop and £2 for the tokens.
