THOUSANDS of offers from across the world have flooded in after the Guardian appealed for a new home for adorably ugly ET - now it seems he's destined for international fame and a happy ending.

The Epping Forest Guardian reported in last week's edition that because of his unusual looks, the Mexican Hairless was being ignored by visitors to his home in Hillside Kennels, Waltham Abbey.

After the story was picked up by several national newspapers, the Epping Forest Guardian began receiving emails and calls from people desperate to rehome him from America, Sweden and even Israel.

Kennel Manager Dawn Fields said staff were amazed at the response.

She said: "We had to take the phone out of the wall it got so bad, when we finally plugged it in to listen to the messages it started ringing straight away.

"Our branch organiser had 70 emails about ET by 10am yesterday morning, he thinks he'd already answered around a hundred the previous day.

"On Saturday when people can come and visit the Kennels we thought people had hired coaches, I've honestly never seen anything like it."

"The kennel owner was amazed, she joked that we should go and buy Immac and do the other dogs."

After getting the kind of coverage a reality TV star could only dream of it now looks as if the four year old has found a potential home.

Miss Fields said: "We do have a long list of local potential homes for him now, we'll be visiting them in the next couple of weeks and we will let everyone know the outcome, but I would ask that people do not call about ET as we're struggling to cope.

She thanked the Epping Forest Guardian for it's help and added: "We do have lots of other lovely dogs that need homes too, everyone is welcome to come and visit them."
