POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a middle-aged woman was attacked as she walked home from a night out.
The 42-year-old was making her way along Loxford Lane just after 11.30pm on Sunday (August 2) when a man suddenly pushed her from behind.
He then dragged her to the floor and assualted her.
The man ran off when she started to scream.
The police's suspect is described a 20-year-old Asian man who was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, and has short dark hair.
Before the attack, the woman had been walking down Upney Lane in Barking, and past the Royal Oak Pub at Faircross. She believes the man started following her at this point.
A police spokeswoman said: "The woman was extremely shaken by the event."
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack.
