DECISIONS taken by Redbridge Council on controversial applications will now be available to residents at the click ofthe button.
The agendas, reports and minutes of all the main Redbridge Council meetings will now be readily available for everyone to read on the internet.
The service, funded by Government money, will allow all constituents the opportunity to see what the council is doing, what it is planning to do, and how it has already dealt with different issues.
Phase One of the process plans to supply an availability of information through the web-site, of which information will be stored in seven labelled sources. Each link will provide access for a refined search, allowing a chance to see minuteds of meetings, some dating back to 2002 and last year.
A full layout of what is to be discussed at future meetings is also displayed and this will include the listings of those that have already taken place.
The initiative also gives residents the chance to get details of each ward councillor.
Cabinet member for customer services and e-government Cllr Aaron Powell said: "The volume of information is immense. This service is important as it will show the constituents what is going on in their council.
"The internet is available at the library, and many have the internet at home, so rather than ask for a paper copy of an agenda at the library, an individual can log on. This is a key part of electronic delivery and will open up the democratic process. We're pleased with what we have secured, and want Redbridge to see it."
Phase Two of the project will develop on-line availability of all the information and can be sent to those residents interested via e-mail. The scheme also hopes to construct two kiosks in the borough which will provide the web-site information for those without internet access.
