A SCHOOL teacher has completed a gruelling 243 mile bike ride to raise money to help set up a new hospice.
Sue Lane from Coopersale Hall school began the journey at Richmond and finished three days later at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The 49-year-old has already raised more than £2,000 for J's Hospice, which is being set up for 18 to 40-year-olds in the area.
She said: “It was excellent and really good fun. There were 25 of us altogether, the youngest was 13 and the oldest was a 66-year-old man riding on a pre-war tandem with his daughter.
"I decided to do it because I have always loved cycling but I have only ever done day cycle events and I thought I would like to try something more adventurous before I'm too old.”
Pupils and parents at the school were behind Sue who said she could not have done it without their support.
She added: “They've all been brilliant.”
