A SCHOOL was shown Eastern promise when it sent a delegation to India to forge cross-continental links.
West Hatch High School, in Chigwell High Road, is hoping to develop projects with a number of Indian schools before the 2012 Olympic games.
Thanks to a grant from the British council, teachers at the school were able to visit Delhi, Jaipur and Agra to discuss the possibility of forming sporting links.
West Hatch hopes to take a group of students to Delhi next year to see the 2010 Commonwealth games, and also aims to host Indian pupils during the London Olympics.
Headteacher Frances Howarth said: “The visit has been extremely worthwhile with all sorts of opportunities being developed for Indian and West Hatch Students.
Mr Davies, deputy headteacher, and I were shown great kindness and there was much interest in the work of the school.
"We were impressed with the way that Indian students valued and embraced their education and their enthusiasm for learning.”
