COLOURFUL designs for a town's brand new playground have drawn an enthusiastic reception.

Loughton Town Council has drawn up three potential plans for a playground, in Westall Road, and is asking the public to help them choose the best one.

At its first consultation event, in Westall Road itself, crowds of children and adults turned out to look at the potential rides on offer including swings, climbing frames and tunnels.

Town council recreation committee vice-chairman Suzanne Harper said: “The council has an ongoing program of refurbishment and it's this site's turn to get some help. The designs look very interesting- I wish we had them when I was younger. I've seen a lot of playgrounds around the county and we need something exciting like this for the town.”

Public consultation is expected to continue with local schools before a final design is chosen later this year.
