COMMUTERS face more misery as talks to prevent industrial action on a busy Waltham Forest rail line failed.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) and Aslef agreed a 48-hour walkout which began at midnight yesterday (Wednesday).
Talks were held on Tuesday between the unions and National Express East Anglia (NXEA) but they failed to reach an agreement.
The strike will affect services from Chingford to Liverpool Street and trains to other parts of London, Essex and East Anglia including Stansted Airport, Cambridge, and Norwich.
The unions staged a similar walk out last week which disrupted journeys for tens of thousands of commuters.
A NXEA statement said: “NXEA tickets will be accepted on c2c, First Capital Connect and East Midlands Trains on these days.
“In addition Transport for London buses and London Underground will be accepting Travelcards and season tickets.”
Passengers are urged to consult alternative timetables NXEA has produced and have been warned services on Saturday could be still be affected by the industrial action.
