AN international relief charity has helped Whipps Cross University Hospital's Big Push appeal to get closer its £350,000 target by donating £1,000.
Muslim Aid, a charity which helps some of the poorest people in the world, heard about the Leytonstone hospital's Big Push Appeal after the Noor Ul Islam Trust spread the world about the campaign after making it their charity of the year.
Elizabeth Goshawk, senior fundraising manager at Whipps Cross, said: “This generous donation to the Big Push will make a real difference to the local families who depend on Whipps Cross Maternity Unit.
“We're delighted to receive the kind of support of Muslim Aid and take this opportunity to thank them for their encouragement and contribution.”
The Big Push appeal aims to raise £350,000 for equipment and improvements in the maternity department.
There were 5,200 babies delivered at the unit last year and its ageing estate means it is in need of updating.
The Big Push appeal has raised £57,172 so far.
