A DETERMINED mum-of-one has organised a summer fun day on her run down housing estate to try and rebuild its tarnished reputation.
Pascalia Raymond believes the Ray Lodge estate, in Woodford Green, has been unfairly labelled a 'problem area' by local people - and wants to challenge these predjudices by holding a street party for the entire community.
The 37-year-old full-time mum hopes the event, on August 22, will show local people that the estate's residents are hardworking and law abiding - and not the 'hooligans' they have been portrayed to be.
She said: "This is a chance for people to meet eachother for the first time, and discuss their experiences.
"People say all sorts of things about this estate, such as we are all scroungers and lazy or that we are hooligans, but this simply isn't true.
"We are not monsters, we have a diverse community here full of hardworking families, and I hope people will see that when they visit us."
Ilford North MP Lee Scott and deputy Redbridge Mayor Brian Lambert will join revellers on the estate for the free event - which is due to feature a bouncy castle, food stalls and a visit by local firefighters.
