The £23 million approval for the refurbishment of Whipps Cross A&E was splashed across the Guardian’s front page and editorial with not a mention of my role in securing this.
The bid was in jeopardy several times, and only after the repeated intervention of Walthamstow MP Neil Gerrard and myself was it finally approved. Credit also goes to Iain Duncan Smith MP for his support for the bid.
The truth is that I have brought hundreds of millions of pounds into the local area, including to the local health service.
