CRIMINALS have targeted cash machines in the district by attaching devices to read cards.
At least two have been found with the device installed on the machine.
People are being advised to be more vigilant when taking money from a machine by hiding pin numbers and ensuring no one is looking from behind.
Safer Communities Manager Caroline Wiggins said: “Please be very careful before withdrawing money from cash machines in the District and check to ensure that the machine has not been tampered with.”
Cards and pin numbers can also be taken by using a flat card reading device placed directly over the machine slot or from a very small pin-head camera which reads pin numbers.
