WHIPPS Cross has apologised to and refunded a doctor who had his car ticketed while voluntarily working for the Leytonstone Hospital.
Dr Stanley Yu, of north London, works at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London.
He volunteered to run an oncology clinic for two weeks at Whipps in the absence of a doctor's registrar. Without his help patients would not have been treated for two weeks, he claims.
He paid for parking on July 22, but his clinic overran, and when he returned to his car at 6.30pm, his vehicle had been ticketed.
He emailed Whipps chief executive Lucy Moore to complain about the £15 fine and was furious he did not receive a response for more than a fortnight.
But the hospital has now addressed Dr Yu's complaint.
A Whipps spokeswoman said: “Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust has apologised for the delay in responding to Dr Yu and any inconvenience caused.
“A prompt decision was made by the Trust to ensure Dr Yu was fully refunded.”
