IT was town verses district at an annual summer French Boules competition.
Councillors from Epping town council took on district councillors at the event at Stonards Hill.
And it was victory for the district council for the tenth year in a row as councillors Ann Haigh and Dave Stallon managed to retain the trophy.
Town Mayor Janet Hedges said: “We lost by one point which was a shame. But it was really wonderful and it was a great game and we all laughed a lot.”
The Epping Horizons Petanque club also held their annual singles competition on the same day and Cllr Hedges presented the winners with their trophies.
Member Ivor Bell said: "The Club plays on Stonards Hill terrain every Monday and Saturday afternoon. Anyone wishing to join the club or try out the game of Petanque (French Boules) should come along and have a go."
