A WALK is to be held today to explore proposals to build around Leyton green space.
The New Lammas Lands Defence Committee (NLLDC), which exists to protect land on Leyton Marshes, will host the walk, starting at 6.30pm from Lammas School, Seymour Road.
Members of the committee expressed shock and outrage after it was revealed proposed developments for the Northern Olympic Fringe area could include building on the land.
They fear the proposals could see roads cutting across Leyton Marshes, which could “threaten the essentially rural character” of the area.
The NLLDC is now inviting local residents to take part in the walk, which is expected to be attended by members of the local authority.
A consultation is currently being carried out on the proposals and the NLLDC is encouraging its members to take part.
