THE council's housing body has said a grieving daughter's claim that a faulty lift was fitted with second-hand parts is untrue.
Laura Dawkins said she had been told by the council's contractors that an elevator in Lambourne Court on Woodford Green's Orchard Estate had been repaired with used materials because of a lack of funding from the authority.
It comes after her mother, 50-year-old Christine Allen, was crushed to death in the lift on Sunday.
At first the council's housing body, Redbridge Homes, refused to comment on the claims.
But today a spokesman said that their lift engineers "do not fit second hand parts."
A joint investigation is currently being carried out by the police and the Health and Safety Executive into the tragedy.
The lead officer of the inquiry said today that no timescale had been made for when further details will be released, but a spokeswoman for the HSE said some findings could be released as early as next week.
