FOUR Daredevil generations of the same family took the plunge by throwing themselves off the highest tower in town.
Great-grandmother, Anne Barry, 79, her daughters Anne and Nicola, granddaughter Emma and great-grandson Asadi, 11, all got into the swing of things for charity by abseiling down the Abbey tower.
Along with 100 others, the brave Barry's raised over £11,000 for various charities in front of cheering onlookers.
Daughter Nicola Jarmaine, who runs the Abbey Independent Funeral Directors Ltd and organised the event, said: “We couldn't have wished for a better day, the weather was lovely and the entire crowd was so encouraging.
“I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who took part.”
Her mother, and the eldest abseiler Anne Barry said: “I absolutely loved it, in fact I can't wait to have another go.
"I've never been to Waltham Abbey before and it was a splendid way to see the town from up in the air. My biggest fear was making a fool of myself but I was told I didn't do that.”
Great Grandson Asadi Ceccarelli described abseiling as “scary at first”.
He said: “From the bottom it didn't look very scary, but it was different from the top, it was really cool seeing my great-grandma go down the tower.
“I'm proud of her and I would love to try it again.”
The event took place on Saturday, August 8.
