DO you know someone who deserves to be hailed a hero?
Redbridge Safer Communities Partnership is holding a special awards ceremony on October 15, during which selfless residents who have contributed to the safety of the borough will be commended.
The Community Safety Awards is an annual event, which was attended by 100 people last year when Tayla Turner and Sophie Rowland - who ran a project aimed at diverting youngsters away from knife crime - were among the winners.
This year there are award categories for under 18s, individual volunteers, businesses and groups.
There will also be an exceptional commitment award, for people who have gone beyond the call of duty to prevent and report crime, and the Mayor's Special Safer Communities Award, for a volunteer who has made an extraordinary contribution over a long period of time.
So if you have, or you know someone who has, helped make Redbridge a safer place to live, nominate them at www.redbridge.gov.uk or on 8708 5085.
Whether your nominee wins or not, we also want to hear your stories.
Contact the Guardian on: 01992 563 121.
The closing date for nominations is September 18.
