A SWEET-TOOTHED vandal smashed a window to steal a cake.
CCTV footage shows a blonde-haired teenage girl smashing the front window of The London Cake Company in Station Road, Chingford, and stealing the £42 display cake on saturday night.
She is then seen parading around wearing the cake’s ribbon on her head. But shop owner, Mark Huggins did not see the funny side.
He said: “She caused all that damage just for a cake. She didn't have a care in the world.
“There is unmeasurable damage because of the time taken to clear it up and we have lost cakes from the display that took hours to make because of the smashed glass. It is very frustrating.”
Ali Arslan, co-owner of Scoffs sandwich bar in Station Road, also arrived at work on Monday morning to find he had been targeted by thieves.
He discovered metal lettering from his shop sign had been stolen overnight.
“For them to get up that high and remove the metal letters which are fixed is unbelievable,” he said.
