BUSINESSES are being encouraged to take part in the Leytonstone Car Free Day.
To take place on September 20, local businesses can set up stalls for free where they can distribute leaflets and samples and even sell goods.
During the day, the one way system on Leytonstone High Road and Church Lane will be closed to traffic to make way for stalls.
Shah Ahmed, who runs the Star of India restaurant and is the chairman of the Leytonstone Business Forum, said: “The involvement of local business is quite big. There are dedicated stalls for the whole of the Car Free Day.
“Last year, we had to pay but this year, it's free and businesses are welcome to promote themselves.”
The event is being organised with the council by the E11Bid company, which works with the Leytonstone Business Forum.
