A LEADING GP admonished by the General Medical Council for looking at porn while at work has come in for further criticism.

Dr Richard Price, who works at the Rydal Group Practice in Woodford Green High Road, has had his actions condemned by MPs Iain Duncan Smith and Lee Scott.

Dr Price has apologised for viewing pornography at the practice he has worked at for 21 years after he received a formal warning from the GMC.

Woodford Green MP Mr Duncan Smith has now gone on record to say he thinks Dr Price should have been punished more severely with a fine or suspension.

And his colleague Mr Scott, MP for Ilford North, has also hit out and suggested some additional disciplinary measures should be taken.

Charity and campaign group the Patients Forum has also condemned Dr Price's actions.

Dr Price's case has provoked considerable debate on The Guardian's forums with many people coming out in support of Dr Price.

Jeo, from Woodford said: “Dr Price is our family doctor. He is an extremely kind, approachable man, and has always been highly professional in his dealings with us.”

Dave Cooper, from Thornwood, said: “This guy was minding his own business and not involving or hurting anyone. His professional ethics are not questioned.”

But Georgiestow, from Walthamstow disagreed writing: “In a profession where trust is involved and intimate examinations are conducted, doctors should be entirely beyond reproach.”
