ILFORD North MP Linda Perham was getting all tied up as she pledged her support for beating bowel cancer.
Mrs Perham was taking part in the launch of the Loud Tie Campaign which aims to raise money for charity and increase awareness.
People are being encouraged to wear 'loud or wacky' ties and schools and offices are been asked to knot together as many ties as they can and wrap them around something.
Beating Bowel Cancer was set up in 1999 and its aim is to fund research, promoting early diagnosis and encouraging more access to choices of treatment for patients.
Mrs Perham joins others such as television presenters Gaby Roslin and Matthew Wright in supporting the campaign.
Speaking during the launch at the Houses of Parliament, Mrs Perham said: "I'm delighted to be supporting Beating Bowel Cancer's Loud Tie Campaign, which aims to tackle the taboos about the disease and encourage people to talk about symptoms.
"Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer and there is still so more to be done to raise awareness of symptoms and available treatment, plus important messages on prevention through a healthier lifestyle."
It is believed that around 35,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK each year. One in 18 will develop a form of the disease at some point in their lives, yet more than half admit either never or only occasionally checking for symptoms or talking about their bowel habits.
Mrs Perham added: "The Loud Tie campaign is a novel and fun way for Beating Bowel Cancer to raise funds and awareness of this serious issue. I would urge everyone to join in and get all tied up or be loud to be proud in support of the campaign."
