RUMOURS that the summer closure of Wanstead Tube station is to be extended 'indefinitely' have been denied by Transport for London (TfL).
There was speculation among commuters that engineering work at the site was due to overrun - meaning the station would be shut past the original August 31 completion date.
But TfL has quashed the rumours by insisting that the work will be completed on schedule as planned.
The news will come as a relief to residents living near to Wanstead Tube station, who have had to use Snaresbrook or Leytonstone stations to access the Central Line this summer - both of which are up to 25 minutes walk away.
