YOUNG footballers were coached by England international striker Peter Crouch at a summer sports programme.

The Spurs forward took sessions in football and other sports.

He also took part in a question and answer session when he visited Ridgeway Park as part of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation summer programme.

During the Q and A Crouch revealed John Terry is the most difficult defender he has played against and the overhead scissor-kick he scored for Liverpool against Galatasaray in the Champions League is the best goal he has ever scored.

Talking about the event, Crouch said: “It's great for me to come down and play my part. All the kids were enjoying themselves and I certainly was as well.

“The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches give up their time to make the day enjoyable as possible for the kids, and for us players, coming along to visit is the least we can do.

“I remember when I was young the school summer holidays seemed a bit too long and you could get bored.

“But with the amount of activities on offer for everyone, these summer programmes certainly keep everyone occupied and out of trouble.”

The Ridgeway Park session at The Ridgeway in Chingford was one of six currently running in Waltham Forest, offering children a range of sports coaching during the summer holidays.
