A POLITICAL activist from Woodford Green has marked his 3,000th day camping outside the Houses of Parliament.

Brian Haw's makeshift tented home, on the grass of Parliament Square directly opposite the palace of Westminster, was first set-up in 2001 in protest against the Government's sanctions on Iraq.

He has since gone on to use it as a platform against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Government's support for Israel.

He has survived repeated attempts by the police and politicans to remove him, but only last month Conservative leader David Cameron said if his party won the next election moves would be made to evict him from the site.
