IT was another successful year for pupils at West Hatch High School who achieved a 97 per cent pass rate in their A-Level results.
For six students the end of their nervous wait was even more rewarding when they opened their envelopes to find three grade A's.
Head Boy Nathaniel Rogers, 18 said: “It's really difficult to know beforehand what you are going to get but I never expected to have three A's and a B. I needed the three A's to go and study medicine at Newcastle University so I was pleased.”
Zoe Smith will be studying psychology at City University after finding out she had been awarded three A's.
She said: “I never thought I would get that. It was a relief more than anything. I didn't get to sleep until 4am last night, and I cried when I found out.”
Helen Valentine who also achieved three A's in Biology Chemistry and Maths said: “I needed an A and two B's to get into Bristol University so I was really happy to get three A's. My mum cried when I told her. I'm sure we'll be out celebrating for the afternoon.”
Headteacher Frances Howarth said it was an excellent set of results for the school's largest ever Year 13 group of 168 pupils.
She added: “We are delighted that so many of our students have done well. They thoroughly deserve these excellent results. I would like to congratulate students and staff on their hard work.”
