A FITNESS expert employed by the council to keep residents in shape is about to become the star of his own daily TV show.
David Hogg, 30, is the active health development officer for Epping Forest District Council (EFDC).
His job involves him working with the elderly to help them stay healthy, and he has previously introduced residents of care homes to Nintendo Wii fitness.
When the council asked David to produce a DVD of exercises that people can do in their own homes, he devised a routine he dubbed "chairobics" which has proved a big hit among those who have difficulty with more strenuous workouts.
Talent spotters for Fitness TV noticed him and asked him to come up to try his hand at TV presenting.
The new digital channel broadcasts exercise programmes for people of all ages and David, a personal trainer for the past 11 years, was only too happy to help.
He said: "The presenting was a bit nerve wracking at first, but once I got into it and relaxed it was really good fun.
"The station gives people an opportunity to exercise in privacy, so it's good for anyone who is a bit shy, and there's lots of different activities to choose from.
"It really does make a difference to people, one of my clients told me she was able to hold a full kettle of water after six months of training, something that her arthritis had made impossible before.
David can be seen every day presenting "Chairobics" on Sky TV channel 282.
