The unpopular decision to close a town's only community use sports hall could be reversed by the council in a meeting next Thursday (September 3).
The Guardian reported on July 16 that the council were planning to end a shared-use agreement for the hall, in Broomstickhall Road, Waltham Abbey, with King Harold's school in January.
Plans are underway for a new £1.7m centre at Waltham Abbey Swimming Pool in Roundhills, but the town will still leave the town without a facility for over a year.
Members of Epping Forest Council’s scrutiny committee have ‘called-in’ the decision, meaning they will re-examine it and could throw the plans out.
The council have repeatedly tried to negotiate the contract with King Harold's governors, but they have failed to respond.
