DEBDEN Park High School continues its remarkable turnaround with another large rise in its pass rate.

Since the school, in Willingale Road, Loughton, came out of special measures two years ago its pass rate has soared by 40 per cent to 69 per cent at A to C level.

Headteacher Christian Cavanagh said: “The school is gong from strength to strength building on last year for better improvement this year. Since the school came out of special measures it's been racing away.

“The most important thing now is consolidation and continuing to build for the future.”

Pupil Ami Hallford, 16, from Loughton, chalked up six A*s, three As and a B and will now go to Trinity High School with hopes of becoming a doctor.

She said: “I'm totally speechless. It was all about hardwork and motivation to achieve well. My parents are taking me out for a meal and I'll go out with my friends to celebrate.”

Matthew Armstrong, 16, from Loughton, scored one A* with nine As and a B and will take up a sixth form place at West Hatch High School.

He said: “I'm very pleased, I think I've done really well. I put in the effort and I was worried it wouldn't' come off but it has.”
