A HOUSING scheme for the elderly has celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Enterprise House, in Kings Head Hill, Chingford, was opened in 1969 as a “caring community” for retired business and professional people aged 60 to 79 and it now has 230 people residents, including 96-year-old Elsie Bailey.
Residents celebrated the scheme's anniversary with an afternoon tea and a barbeque, which was attended by the Mayor of Waltham Forest Anna Mbachu.
Kieron Brophy, Enterprise House general manager, said: “The day was a great success, Enterprise House is very much a community as opposed to just a block of flats.”
