WANSTEAD Underground station is set to re-open after being closed for ten weeks while modernisation work was carried out.
The busy Tube stop was shut down in June but will re-open on Monday (August 31).
However it will still shut at 9pm every night until mid-October while the work continues.
The works, which were part of the London Underground Investment Programme, have seen a new station control room installed at the transport hub along with an upgrading of the CCTV systems, an improved PA system, help points and new electronic information boards.
Major structural works, including the demolition of a large concrete slab which overhung at the top of the station escalators was also carried out.
Commuters expressed dismay when the works were announced.
