WALTHAM Abbey Folk Club hosts Waltham Forest musical everyman Graham Larkbey this coming Monday (September 7).

Playing a mix of solo acoustic original material, tunes from his band The Escape Committee, and some traditional folk and country tunes, this promises to be an intriguing night.

Entry to the club, which is held at the British Legion building in Brooker Road, is £5 and it all kicks off at 8pm.

Back in the wilds of East London, rockers Swinging for Mars play Walthamstow's Plough Inn on Friday (September 4). Support comes from alternative popsters Scuffed Up Shoes.

Entry is £5 with a flyer, £6 without, and doors swing open at 8pm.

Monday (September 7) at the Plough is Blues Jam night. Entry is free and it starts at nine.

On Thursday (September 3) at the Standard, Club Bus Wind presents another fine young crop of unsigned bands.

Those playing include Wideboy Generation, Walthamstow favourites Betamax, The Kids Uncanny and Dregs of Society. Entry is the usual fiver with a band flyer, or £6 without, and doors open at around 8pm ish.

On Friday (September 4) tribute act Whole Lotta Led bust out the classics from 8pm.

Tickets are £10.

On Saturday Small Fakers play a headline set. Entry is £9.

Over in Leytonstone, What's Cookin' present The Hot Seats and The Henry Brothers at the Sheepwalk pub this Saturday (September 5).

Meanwhile a heads up for later this month with a new superb season of music at Ilford Sports Club in Cricklefield Stadium.

The first show is next Friday (September 11) with pop-retro-Bollywood-influenced tunesters Ivy York.

Entry is £4 and it starts around 8pm.
