A BUTCHER celebrated 20 years of business on Saturday.
Shaw's Butchers in Station Road, Chingford, had a double celebration because it was also Andrew Shaw's 40th Birthday.
Customers were treated to a performance from The Chigwell Jazz Band playing live outside the shop and food and drinks throughout the day.
Mr Shaw said: "It was a great success. Everyone was dancing and it brought a smile to people's faces.
"We just wanted to show customers our appreciation because in these days it is difficult to survive because many people go to supermarkets.
"There used to be about eight butchers in Chingford and now there are only two, so I feel quite proud that I have managed to survive."
In 1989, Mr Shaw opened a butcher's counter in Kwik Save, in Station Road.
Then in 2003, after Kwik Save had become a Somerfield, he opened his own independent butchers across the road at number 29 Station Road, which he runs today alongside his father Harvey Shaw.
