TRANSPORT for London (TfL) have announced that Wanstead station should be back to its normal opening hours on Monday October 12 following an extended period of early closures.
The busy tube stop partly reopened on Bank Holiday Monday after being completely closed for ten weeks while modernisation works were carried out.
However for the next few weeks the station will close at 9pm every night while the finishing touches to the works are completed.
TfL say the main reason for the station being completely closed during the summer was because of the demolition of a large concrete slab which overhung the top of the station escalator.
Other works have included the installation of a new station control room, an upgrade of the station's existing CCTV system, an improved PA system, the new 'Help Points' and new electronic information boards.
Peter Tollington, Central line general manager, said: "When all station works are complete, customers will get a completely modernised station with improved security and communication facilities.
"We had to close Wanstead station completely for the safety of our customers and staff while we demolished the ceiling which is above the station escalators and carry out structural alterations in the ticket hall area to create the new station control point."
Travellers have been advised to use Snaresbrook, Leytonstone or Redbridge stations during the evening closures.
