THE funeral of a grandmother-of-five crushed to death in a tower block lift on Woodford Green's Orchard Estate is to be held this Friday (September 4).
Christine Allen, 50, was tragically killed in the Lambourne Court section of the estate in early August, but investigations by a coroner have meant her family have not been able to lay her to rest until now.
Friday's procession will set off from the Orchard Estate at 1.15pm, and many residents are expected to attend to pay their respects.
There will then be a small family service at the City of London Cemetery in Aldersbrook later in the day.
Meanwhile a petition calling for "justice" over Ms Allen's death has been handed in to Redbridge Council.
Ms Allen's daughter, Laura Dawkins, said: "The petition reached 45 pages.
"We don't know the final total of people who signed it but it's at least 1,000."
An investigation into the disaster by the police and the Health and Safety Executive is currently on-going.
