A TEENAGER is recovering in hospital after being shot in his groin.
The 18-year-old was shot just after midnight yesterday morning by a lone gunman in Capworth Street, Leyton.
The bullet hit his groin and thigh area, but he currently in a stable condition in hospital.
Officers from Trident, which investigates gun crime in the black community, are appealing for information and witnesses about the shooting.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a light grey hooded top and a green bandana across his face.
Police believe he fled the scene in a small car and headed towards Lea Bridge Road in Leyton.
