BRIGHTLY coloured flowers and a variety of vegetables were the stars of the Chingford Horticultural Society's autumn show.
The weather was kind to the organisers of the event, which was held at Mornington Hall, The Green, Chingford, on Saturday, September 5.
Alan Gillingwater, 70, secretary, said: “It was full of colourful dahlias and late summer flowers alongside a selection of vegetables.”
Patricia Richards won The Little Cup while veteran exhibitor Len Pye was awarded the best flower exhibit for six carnations.
Cyril Smith won The James Cup and The Garden News Trophy for a collection of vegetables which included onions, leaks and carrots while Michael Watson produced the best exhibition comprising six potatoes.
Gardeners were tempted by bargains a plenty at the plant sale and there were plenty of enticing refreshments, which included Judith Booth's delicious homemade chocolate cake.
The Chingford Horticultural Society's late autumn show takes place on Saturday, October 31 at Mornington Hall, The Green, Chingford.
