TWO athletes turned heads on the catwalk rather than the track when they were special guests at a charity fashion show.
Relay runner Vicki Barr and sprinter Montell Douglas, who reached the 100 meters semi-final in the Beijing Olympics, joined volunteers to do a twirl on the catwalk, modelling top high street designs in aid of Woodford Green charity Haven House, who look after terminally ill children.
A raffle at the event included a signed Victoria Beckham book and a handbag donated by pop star Lilly Allen, while a hamper was up for grabs from Mr Simms Ye Olde Sweetshop in South Woodford, and participants won a £500 Venture studio experience, a £100 Topshop voucher and five lucky people won a makeover courtesy of Benefit Cosmetics in Loughton.
The evening, which raised £2,000 for Haven House, was sponsored by David Lloyd gym in Chigwell and Toni and Guy hairdressers in Epping.
Hayley Bridge, community fundraiser, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the evening and supporting Haven House.”
The event took place at the swanky RS Lounge, which is on the Walthamstow/Woodford border, on Thursday, September 3.
