USERS of a sports centre will be helped to find alternative locations to hold clubs and activities if they are unable to continue using a sports centre.
The district council will be opening a new sports centre attached to Waltham Abbey swimming pool next year.
But their joint-use agreement with Waltham Abbey Sports Centre at King Harold School will end before the new facilities are ready, leaving users with nowhere to go.
The sports centre belongs to King Harold School and any decision to continue to provide it as a community facility is down to them, when the agreement ends in January.
Leisure and Wellbeing Portfolio Holder Councillor Brian Rolfe said: “Unfortunately, and despite our best endeavours, no one from the school has yet engaged with officers from the council in order to discuss the best way forward, nor has anyone confirmed the school's intentions after the agreement expires.”
He has promised to help users find alternative locations to continue with activities.
