A PREMIER League footballer who is facing a driving ban after being convicted of speeding has had his case adjourned.
Ex-Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda, 30, of Loughton, was due to be sentenced for driving his Porsche at 91mph in a 70mph zone on the A19 in North Yorkshire in January.
But the bench at Northallerton Magistrates' Court agreed to adjourn the case until September 28 at the French full-back's request.
The footballer's lawyers said they need more time to challenge a previous conviction for having no insurance and were still waiting for information from a French insurance company.
Last month Chimbonda admitted to speeding on the A19 near Thirsk.
It is likely the defender will be given a ban as Magistrates have indicated the offence will merit a four point driving penalty which will push him over the 12 point threshold for a driving ban.
Chimbonda left Spurs, after his second spell at the north London club, to join Blackburn Rovers last month.
