A MAN died yesterday (Sunday) after being hit by a train at Redbridge Station.
The 41-year-old, who was from Walthamstow but has not been named by police, died at the scene at about 1pm.
It is believed the man jumped in front of the train as horrified Tube passengers looked on.
His death is not being treated as suspicious by police.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “The incident was reported to police at 1pm.
“Officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police Service attended, along with the London Fire Brigade and paramedics from the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service."
An inquest will decide whether he committed suicide.
Services between Leytonstone and Newbury Park were suspended following the incident and trains for Hainault were diverted via Woodford.
Redbridge Station reopened at about 2.10pm and services returned to normal at about 2.20pm.
