VAST vegetables and pristine plants were on display at Buckhurst Hill Horticultural Society's autumn show.
Chrysanthemums, cucumbers and chocolate éclairs, were among the prize winners on the day while in the junior category Thomas Compton proved a runaway success gaining first place in both collage of leaves berries and seedheads, and jug of mixed grasses categories.
As well as viewing the exhibits visitors to the Centenary Hall, in Buckhurst Hill High Road, were able to purchase bulbs, buy plants from members and enjoy tea and homemade cakes.
Horticultural Society chairman Maureen Briggs said: “I am delighted that the show was such a resounding success. I was pleased to welcome new exhibitors and hoped they had fun and enjoyed the experience."
The Society's next meeting will be on Monday, October 5 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at St. James' Church, in Palmerston Road, Buckhurst Hill, when Robin Carsberg will speak on the subject The Plants in my Garden.
