A MAN was stabbed in the back after confronting two robbers who barged into his home demanding money and gold.
The thugs pushed past the man's wife and threatened her with a knife after she opened the door of their house in Hereford Gardens, Ilford at 4.32pm on Sunday.
The 53 year-old was stabbed in his lower back after confronting the pair, who ran off empty handed.
The injured man was flown by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital where he received emergency treatment for his wound. He remains at the hospital in a stable condition.
The pair are thought to have jumped into a white Transit-style van in Worcester Gardens before speeding off in the direction of The Drive.
The robbers are both described as white, of slim build and aged between 18 and 21. One was wearing a grey hooded top at the time of the attack.
One of the pair was 5ft 6ins tall while the other was around 5ft 8ins.
