THE great and the good among Davenant Foundation School's sixth formers gathered for their graduation ceremony.
Among the guests, headteacher Chris Seward, governors, staff and parents joined with the students to celebrate the Lougthon school's latest A level achievements.
Twenty two students received the Governors’ Medal for Scholarship after achieving at least three Grade As in their examinations while other awards included recognition of achievement in individual subjects, sport, music and the arts.
A number of trophies were also given to students who had made special contributions to the community.
Guest of Honour for the evening was former Davenant student, Etholle George, who is now a regular presenter on BBC Essex and BBC Look East.
Mr Seward said: “Ms George compared the changes that had happened at the school since her time as a student in the 1980s with those things that had remained the same. She recalled the perseverance and determination that she had required to establish herself in the media and encouraged the students to approach their future in the same way.”
