A PROPOSAL on how to get thousands of people receiving benefits into work has been published by a think tank set up by a local MP.
The Centre for Social Justice, set up by Iain Duncan Smith, MP for Chingford and Woodford Green, proposes scrapping a system which it says makes it difficult for people to earn more at work than they get in benefits.
It says that by subsiding those on low wages, less people would stay on the welfare system costing the country billions of pounds in hand outs.
The report comes ahead of the latest official unemployment figures due to be published.
Mr Duncan Smith said the current benefits system is an impediment to getting people into work.
