A MAN raped a woman in her own lounge before returning to her home two months later and sexually assaulting her while high on crack cocaine, a court heard.

Michael Davis, 47, of Yates House, Bethnal Green, is accused of raping the woman at her home in Woodford Green on June 20 last year, and then sexually assaulting her on August 10.

Snaresbrook Crown Court was told that Davis went to the woman's home at about 11pm on June 20 where he first assaulted her.

However, she did not report it to the police until August, after Davis allegedly got into bed with her and sexually assaulted her.

The woman claims that on the first occasion Davis came into her home, grabbed her and held her arms behind her back, before forcing her to have sex with him, despite repeatedly telling him to stop.

In an interview given to police on August 20 last year which was read out in court, Mr Davis said: “I don't remember forcing her or pulling her or anything like that.

“I just don't see how I can hold her arms and do that.”

He admitted having sex with the woman on June 20 and then “trying his luck” with her on August 10 but said he was not aware of doing anything against her wishes.

Davis also admitted that he had had crack cocaine on him but denied having taken any drugs on June 20.

The allegations were first made to the Sapphire Unit, which deals with sex crimes, at Barkingside police station on August 19 last year.

Davis was charged with both rape and sexual assault on August 28 last year and denies doing anything without the woman's consent.

The trial continues.
