CAMPAIGN groups may join forces to put forward independent candidates at next year’s council election.
Groups including Fight the Height, The McGuffin Film Society and Anti-scrap, which have all opposed policies adopted by the ruling Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition, will meet on Wednesday to discuss collaborating on common issues.
A letter to members from Michael Gold of the William Morris Independent Trust Group and Adrian Stannard of the Friends of Lloyd Park said some campaigners believe independent candidates should stand in the poll in May.
Irish councillor Richard Boyd Barrett, who was elected as People Before Profit candidate, will speak at the meeting to explain how a number of groups came together to campaign while maintaining their identity.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm in the upstairs hall in the Quaker Meeting Rooms, 1a Jewel Road, Walthamstow.
