Essex MEP Richard Howitt visited an organic farm to cook handgrown produce alongside local youngsters to highlight organic food fortnight.
He visited Ashlyn's Organics - a working farm and training kitchen who are leading the fight against food ignorance in young people.
Ashlyn's uses it's facilites to try to wean children off junk food and show them that it doesn't cost the earth to eat organic.
Mr Howitt donned a pinny and joined them at the farm in High Laver to try his hand at cooking with the youngsters.
The Labour MEP said: "Young people need to know how to cook if they are to stand a chance in the fight to get healthy. They need to see that there are other things to eat instead of burgers and chips.
“A healthy diet is crucial to the long-term health chances of our young people. The work being done here shows that it is possible to eat well on a budget.
“Equipping young people with cooking skills is the surest way of getting them off junk food and into a healthier way of living.”
